Connections

Connections is an anthology series that explores various aspects of romantic relationships, delving deep into the characters' psychology and examining how society and the environment influence them.

SYNOPSIS

CONNECTIONS is an anthology TV series that explores various types of romantic connections, including relationships, marriage, and unrealised romantic relationships, as well as the impact of other connections, such as friendships, business partnerships, and familial relationships on these romantic dynamics. Across six episodes, we are introduced to characters in their late 20s to 50s, each facing unique challenges and navigating the complexities of forming new connections. The stories include a couple struggling with fertility and turning to IVF for help, a woman who confronts her husband's reluctance to have children and rediscovers herself in the process, two friends and roommates grappling with unspoken romantic feelings for each other, a married couple seeking to reignite their passion after the arrival of a child, a girl revisiting her hometown and reconnecting with an ex-boyfriend who never joined her in the USA, and an actress confronted with a journalist who played a role in her public scrutiny and realising they share a common struggle.

He is universally known as a founding member of the band Idoli, which ignited the New Wave in former Yugoslavia. Music journalists from the former Yugoslavia, which brought together the Croatian edition of Rolling Stone, declared the album The Defense and the Last Days, The Best Album of the former Yugoslavia from 1955 to today. He acted in the cult movie DAVITELJ PROTIV DAVITELJA (1984), worked on the soundtrack and wrote the song Beogradski davitelj, which he performed with the imaginary band Simboli. He also composes music for the TV drama ŠUMANOVIĆ - KOMEDIJA UMETNIKA. He is the original idea author for BESA (2018-2023) by Adrenalin Content Providing, a production company with a strong foothold in Southeast Europe, producing entertainment formats and drama series. He has founded I&F Grupa, the first media agency from South-East Europe to win two Cannes Lions (2009 Gold and 2011 Silver Lion). He is well-known for his long-standing support of many cultural projects and owns November Gallery, which is dedicated to promoting young and emerging artists.

Romantic comedy, a genre almost forgotten and neglected in former Yugoslavian countries, is now more needed than ever. Thinking about romantic comedies we loved, such as IT ISN'T EASY TO GET ALONG WITH MEN (1985), MY PART-TIME DAD (1982), and PART-TIME DIVORCE (1986), we came up with the idea for this rom-com anthology series about (romantic) connections. However, we didn’t want to make just easy-going content. Our aim is to tackle modern and universal issues in our personal lives in a comedic yet profound manner, delving into the essence of these problems and exploring the psychology of our characters, all while examining the influence of society and the environment on their experiences. We don’t use the word relationship but connection, as it feels more appropriate. Why? Today, these romantic connections have reached the peak of their diversity - from open relationships, temporary-occasional schemes, and classic marriages to marriages of convenience, asexual, platonic relations… The list can go on. At the same time, our need to be self-sufficient and independent has increased. We often don’t want to be bound by relationships, so we like to make a non-binding romantic or sexual connection. Work, career, and personal development have risen high on the priority list, but on the other hand, the need for sincere love, tenderness, and closeness is perhaps greater than ever. We look for it on social networks, through various applications, all-night and day parties, meetings, mingling, and vacations. We resort to cosmetic surgery and treatments to be more accepted and loved. All this creates more than enough material to talk humorously about topics concerning the widest target group because we have all encountered emotional problems regardless of gender, age, sexual orientation, or financial status, we have all encountered emotional problems. In this series, we consciously prioritise female perspectives, not as a passing trend, but because we genuinely lack stories where women are the main characters.
