Role of Producer in New Feminism Era presented by Mastercard

How can we get closer to gender equality in general and in the field of the film industry? Is it an important goal and why? In this panel, we bring together accomplished female producers to share their real-world experiences and insights in navigating the changing landscape of position of women within the film industry. Accomplished female producers reveal practical strategies employed to empower female voices, tackle gender disparities, and drive positive change.

Jelena Angelovski

Jelena Angelovski, an EAVE Producers’ workshop alumna, is a producer at Meander Film. Her credits include Tamara Drakulić’s WIND (2016), premiered at Torino Film Festival, and IN PRAISE OF LOVE (2020), premiered at Sarajevo Film Festival, YOU HAVE THE NIGHT (2018) by Ivan Salatić and premiered at Venice International Film Critics’ Week, TAURUNUM BOY (2019) by Jelena Maksimović and Dušan Grubin, which premiered at Cinéma du Réel and HOMELANDS by Jelena Maksimović (2020), RAMPART (2021) by Marko Grba Singh, and THE ELEGY OF LAUREL (2021) by Dušan Kasalica.

Tamara Babun

Tamara Babun (1985) was born in Zagreb and graduated from the Academy of Dramatic Arts. After a decade of extensive experience producing films, videos and theatre, she started Wolfgang & Dolly in 2017, where Matija Drniković, Una Radić and Aleksandar Arsovski soon joined her. She participated in the Emerging Producers training, Less Is More Development Angles, Sources 2, Screen Leaders, Ex Oriente, local EURODOC workshop, Sarajevo Talent Campus, and IDFA Academy. She is the 2019 EAVE Producers Workshop graduate. Tamara is a member of EFA. She produced PELICAN (2022), directed by Filip Heraković, screened in the First Feature Competition at Tallinn Black Nights, where Heraković was awarded a Special Jury Prize for Directing. The same year she co-wrote, co-directed and co-produced a four-part documentary series for Croatian National Television titled AHA!, featuring top Croatian scientists. In 2020 and 2022, she produced ten episodes of the documentary TV series BACK TO THE LAND (2021-2023) written by Filip Filković Philatz &Tomislav Krnić). As a producer, she is developing fiction and documentary projects. As writer and director, she is developing the second season of AHA!, the documentary PINNA WANTS TO LIVE and the short fiction film TO THE BEYOND.

Dragana Jovović

Dragana Jovović is a producer active in the field of arthouse cinema and experimental theatre. She graduated in French philology at the University of Belgrade and holds an MA in Cultural Policy and Management from the joint master’s programme of the University of Arts in Belgrade and the University Lumière Lyon 2. Together with Ognjen Glavonić and Stefan Ivančić, she co-founded a production company Non-Aligned Films. She is the producer of THE LOAD (2018) by Ognjen Glavonić, which premiered at the Directors’ Fortnight in Cannes, DEPHT TWO (2016) and YUGOSLAVIA – HOW IDEOLOGY MOVED OUR COLLECTIVE BODY (2013), both premiered at the Berlinale Forum, as well as LANDSCAPES OF RESISTANCE (2021), which had its world premiere in the Tiger competition of the IFF Rotterdam. She is an alumna of EAVE (2019) and Jihlava Emerging Producers (2022).

Asja Krsmanović

Asja Krsmanović (1988) in Sarajevo. She graduated from the Academy of Performing Arts in Sarajevo, Department of Dramaturgy. Currently, she is completing her master's studies in the same department. She has worked as a dramaturg on several theatre productions and some radio and television projects. Since 2011, she has been working as a coordinator and later as a manager for the Competition Feature, Competition Short, and In Focus programs at the Sarajevo Film Festival. Since 2017, she has been responsible for selecting and managing the Student Film Competition and serves as the Head of Protocol for the Sarajevo Film Festival. Asja is also a screenwriter for the short film KALO (2015), directed by Nermin Hamzagić. She is one of the founders and the first selector of the High School Theater Festival Juventafest. As a member of the Balkan network for translating dramatic texts EURODRAM.
