In this session, Oscar Albertsen, consultant at PUBLIKUM—a Denmark-based platform specialising in audience analysis and strategy—presents seven key trends drawn from research on more than 100 European films and series in development. Drawing on extensive qualitative data, these seven insights offers a nuanced look at how audiences across Europe engage with content in today’s audio-visual landscape. Each of the seven is accompanied by reflection questions designed to support filmmakers in building audience awareness at different stages of the development process.

Oscar Albertsen is an audience consultant at PUBLIKUM, a Danish-based service for audience insight and story development. He has consulted on films and series from several countries, helping filmmakers connect with adult audiences through a blend of AI analysis and anthropological insight. Albertsen has worked with institutions such as the Austrian Film Fund and the European Writers Club, supporting creative teams in aligning stories with contemporary audience values. He holds a master’s degree in applied cultural analysis from the University of Copenhagen.
