DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
"17" is a film that exposes a rotten society that is only seemingly harmonious. Using fierce realism, the film asks questions that are usually kept "behind closed doors.” The motivation to tell such a story came from a real event. Few years ago, I came across shocking news about a teenage girl who went on a graduation trip to Europe and gave birth in the service toilet at the Macedonian border crossing. After giving birth, she left the baby in the waste bin, got back on the bus, and continued as if nothing had happened. No one knew about the girl's pregnancy. That was enough of a provocation for me to tell a story in which questions will be asked objectively, without taking side. In "17£, characters of Sara and Lina experience severe, life-changing traumas. Unwanted pregnancy and rape are the secrets that will connect these two for the rest of their lives.
