From Reach to Impact: How Commercial Broadcaster Can Drive Social Change
Social impact has traditionally been associated with public service media, documentary and NGO-driven campaigns. Central European Media Enterprises (CME) is bringing it into a commercial broadcaster's production pipeline. Its Social Impact Center, operating across CME's markets in Central and Southeast Europe — TV Nova, Markíza, POP TV, bTV, RTL and PRO TV develops storytelling and impact strategy together from the earliest stage, rather than attaching a campaign to a finished series.
The panel is grounded in the Center's first project, developed with RTL Croatia: a mobile-first vertical documentary series on anxiety among Millennials and Gen Z, anchoring a wider campaign with NGOs and local partners across RTL's channels.
The questions reach beyond CME. How do social objectives shape format, commissioning and editorial choices? Where do creators keep their authorship within a coordinated impact framework? And can a model developed inside one media group travel to other commercial broadcasters working under different ownership and market conditions?
