Migrant worker Bogdan Dragović returns home on the eve of World War II. He attempts to get in touch with the Communist Party and his son Vladimir. HIs wife, Milena, whom he has abandoned, starts up a relationship with Petar Bajević, a Comintern agent. Vladimir turns against his father. Milena’s father Vukašin and her brother Ivan are the true representatives of civic Yugoslavia, which buckles under the pressure of the approaching evil. The war begins; Milena and Ivan return to their home village of Prerevo; Vladimir joins the partisans; Petar and Bogdan are apprehended by the Gestapo; and Vukašin stays at home, where he is held hostage by Vladimir.

Director

Ivan Zivković is a Serbian film and television director. He graduated with a degree in film and television directing from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts in Belgrade in 1998 and three years latter acquired a Master’s degree from the American Film Institute in Los Angeles. His MA graduation film, REMOTE CONTROL, received more than thirty awards and was nominated for a Student Academy Award. He has worked as an assistant director since 1991 and has collaborated in that capacity with leading Serbian film directors including Goran Marković, Srdjana Dragojević and Dragan Bjelogrlić. He directed his debut feature film, HADERSFILD, based on a novel by Uglješa Šajtinac, in 2007. For television, he has directed the series MILE VS. TRANSITION, HOME THEATRE, FAITH AND CONSPIRACIES and ROOTS, based on a novel by Dobrica Cosić, and UNCLE – NEW HORIZONS. He also directed several episodes of the television series MY FATHER’S KILLER and BLACK SUN.
