Can co-productions be green? Strategy and challenges

The panel brings together producers, film-fund representatives, and environmental consultants to speak about approaches and strategies for making film production greener. Without having a common rule on the environmental issues across EU and with evident boost of the “green production” in Western Europe, how can it be ensured that bigger disparity does not occur across European co-production landscape?

Sehad Čekić

Sehad Čekić was born in Podgorica in 1979. As a producer, his feature film credits include Marija Perovic’s Look at Me (2008), Nemanja Becanovic’s The Ascent (2011) and Pavle Simonović’s Lowdown (2016). He is a co-author of the “Laws on Cinematography of Montenegro” (2015). Čekić is an sssistant professor at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Montenegro in Cetinje, where he was Dean from 2014 to 2017. He has been a member of the European Film Academy since 2013, is the national representative of Montenegro for the Board of Management of Eurimages and the first Managing Director of the Film Centre of Montenegro, which was established in 2017.

Amra Bakšić Čamo

Amra Bakšić Čamo is one of the founders of SCCA/pro.ba, an independent production company based in Sarajevo. She has produced and co-produced award-winning shorts, documentaries, television programmes and feature films. Since 2003, she has been Head of CineLink at the Sarajevo Film Festival and since 2019 one of the curators at the TorinoFilmLab. Bakšić Čamo is a member of the European Film Academy as well as ACE and EAVE producer networks, and is a long-time collaborator of the Berlinale Co-Production Market and the Biennale College. She teaches producing at the Academy of Preforming Arts in Sarajevo.

Zuzana Bieliková

On June 1st 2018, Zuzana Bieliková was appointed the manager of Slovak Film Commission. She is a Prague´s FAMU production graduate having worked on various professional positions in film production for almost 15 years. She has also actively devoted herself to foreign film marketing, where she has gained worthy knowledge of the current situation on the film and television market in an international context. She has experience with managing projects for important film and television events (Marché du film in Cannes, European Film Market in Berlin, Discop and other) as well as a large database of contacts of film professionals.

Alberto Battocchi

After receiving a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction, Alberto Battocchi pursued his passion for cinema, working as assistant director in film and TV productions and as location scout in the Trentino region, Italy.

In 2016, Alberto joined Trentino Film Fund and Commission (TFC), where he currently works providing assistance to film and TV productions that are shooting in Trentino. Since 2019 he is also involved in GREEN FILM, the initiative launched by TFC for fostering environmental sustainability in audiovisual productions.

Christiane Dopp

Christiane Dopp, motivated and sucessful film production manager experienced with independent and studio-funded film projects. Since 2001 Film Commission Hamburg SH /Germany related to Film Fund Hamburg Schleswig – Holstein. In the last 20 years taking care of the best location called Hamburg, including permits,networking and marketing for the city. Since almost 10 years keen of the green issue, Founder of the Green Shooting Card to motivate the film industry for being aware of the enviroment. In 2020 we started the next level, The Green Filming Badge has been working as a sustainability check on the entire value chain of a film—from screenplay to distribution. There is no time left, start now : reduce, reuse, recycle. These are the guide words for the future.

 

Tamara Tatishvili

Tamara Tatishvili works in film funding, promotion and cooperation strategies across Europe and around the world. From 2010 through 2013, she acted as Director of the Georgian National Film Centre, where she led reforms of the institution and initiated the emergence of a new wave of talented filmmakers. She was the Georgian representative to Eurimages and European Film Promotion from 2011 to 2019. Earlier in her career, Tatishvili co-founded and managed the Independent Filmmakers’ Association of the South Caucasus. Currently, she is Head of MEDICI Training, organised by FOCAL. Among other initiatives, she is an advisor for the European Women’s Audiovisual Network and a mentor at the School of Film Advancement.
