CHAIN REACTION
An eighteen-year-old snowboarder fighting for a spot in the European Championship must team up with his crew to expose a corporate nuclear conspiracy buried beneath their Alpine resort town.
SYNOPSIS
In the idyllic alpine resort of Bistri Vrh, eighteen-year-old snowboarder Tom chases his ultimate dream: winning the local Big Air competition to qualify for the European Championships. Everything fractures, however, when his best friend Klemen suffers a mysterious, near-fatal crash on the slopes and ends up in a coma. While looking for answers, Tom's loyal crew hacks into Klemen's cloud storage and uncovers raw footage of figures in hazmat suits. The videos expose a lethal secret: a ruthless Norwegian energy giant is running an illegal uranium extraction operation right beneath their feet. The resort's director, trapped by debt and corporate threats, has no choice but to allow the illegal drilling under the cover of a green resort expansion. As the international Big Air final approaches, the stakes skyrocket. Tom risks everything to venture into the dangerous, supposedly abandoned mine shafts to gather proof, triggering a breathless, high-stakes underground chase with corporate mercenaries. Fighting his way out of the dark tunnels, he races against time in a desperate scramble to make it to the competition gate just in time. While Tom must block out the adrenaline and stay laser-focused on the high-stakes jump of his life, his friends Aljaž, Manca, Pika, Lina, and Medo orchestrate a rogue mission behind the scenes. To save their friend and blast the truth wide open, the crew plans to hijack the resort's massive live video walls right during Tom's final run, broadcasting the evidence directly to the large, unsuspecting local audience gathered at the foot of the mountain.
Forced to grow up overnight and fight a corrupt adult world of corporate greed, these kids find their unique edge in their deep connection to the mountain, their elite skills on the snow, and their unbreakable friendship.

CREATOR’S BIOGRAPHY
Grega Švabič - A twenty-year veteran of the international film industry, Grega Švabič combines the precision of a technical master with the intuition of a storyteller. As the driving force behind Chain Reaction, he oversees the creative and production evolution of the series, ensuring that the project's ambitious “chain Reaction” is felt in every frame. His leadership is rooted in decades of cross-border collaboration, bringing a world-class standard to Slovenian independent production.
My core directorial goal for Chain Reaction is to keep the viewer in a constant state of sensory duality. I want the audience to physically feel the contrast. Above ground, there is a sense of absolute freedom: wind cutting across the face, adrenaline pounding in the temples, snow squeaking sharply beneath the board. This is a world where the characters and the viewers feel invincible. Below, that euphoria fractures. The sounds of nature turn into a low, muffled hum rising from the depths. The viewer should feel the claustrophobia of the mountain at the exact moment the endless white no longer provides protection, but rather isolation. In my vision, the mountain is not just a backdrop, but a silent observer. Through precise framing, I create the feeling that the characters are constantly being watched – not necessarily by people, but by the past itself, buried in the mine. I want the audience to search for anomalies behind every idyllic image; this constant tension between what we see and what we sense becomes the engine of suspense. When working with actors, I am not looking for "cinematic teenagers," but for raw, sometimes awkward, honest energy. I want the viewer to feel their fear, masked by humour and arrogance. My direction emphasises their physical vulnerability; without equipment, in the darkness of the mine, they appear small and fragile against the cold machinery of the corporation and the weight of their parents' unspoken truths. The audience must share their dilemma: remain safe in silence, or risk everything for the truth. Chain reaction is the internal physics of the series. The title refers to the exact moment of criticality: when a single disturbance in the mine’s radioactive core triggers an irreversible sequence of events. It represents the collision between the organic, weathered reality of a mountain community and the clinical, predatory expansion of a nuclear interest. In my direction, this is a process of inevitable decay. Once the first isotope of truth is released, the momentum becomes terminal. We are filming the breakdown of a home as it is systematically dismantled by a sterile, corporate force – a reaction that can only end in fallout. The rhythm of the series follows a heartbeat. Snow action sequences are fast and almost documentary-like, throwing the viewer directly into the experience. Conversely, scenes in the mine or confrontations with adults are deliberately slowed down. Silence becomes a weapon – long pauses filled only with dripping water or distant humming build unbearable pressure, forcing the audience to ask: What is hiding in the dark? The ultimate aim of my direction is that, by the end of the season, the viewer feels not only satisfaction at the revealed secret, but also melancholy. I see Chain Reaction as a journey from youthful carefreeness to the brutal realisation that the very foundations of “home” are poisoned. I want to leave the audience with the sense that, after this winter, nothing can return to how it was the world has reached a point of no return, and the role these young people play within it has become a matter of survival.

PRODUCER’S STATEMENT
As I grew up skiing and snowboarding from the age of five, and later worked as a snowboarding photographer and collaborated on snowboarding films, Chain Reaction is a deeply personal project for me. The snowboarding subculture is a world I know intimately, and our goal is to bring its raw energy and absolute authenticity to a wider global audience. Chain Reaction is an action thriller that balances commercial appeal with a gritty, distinct European identity. We want to deliver a premium eight-part series that moves past standard coming-of-age tropes, throwing its characters instead into a claustrophobic, eco-conspiracy. Set against the sharp contrast of the Slovenian Alps, the project hooks into a massive, globally underserved market: high-stakes youth drama rooted in the adrenaline-fuelled world of extreme snowboarding. The story relies heavily on visual contrast – the blinding freedom of open slopes versus the dark, decaying underground and gritty industrial surroundings. To deepen the world-building narrative, we plan to weave in flashbacks using real archival material from classic snowboarding films, all while keeping the emotional stakes grounded and real. From a market standpoint, Chain Reaction is built for international co-production. By pitting a group of local alpine kids against a ruthless foreign antagonist and bringing together snowboarding teams from neighbouring countries, the narrative naturally opens doors for cross-border financing, regional European funds, and international talent attachments. Our target audience spots fake action instantly. To maintain absolute authenticity, we are committed to casting fresh, raw local talent and using immersive, documentary-style cinematography that makes every snowboarding sequence feel visceral and high-stakes. We are currently in the early development phase, finalising our script materials, pitch decks, and visual concepts. With a completed package and a comprehensive plan for shooting on snow, we are positioning Chain Reaction as a highly efficient, attractive package for regional public funds, broadcasters, and global streaming platforms looking for local European stories with universal pull. Our immediate roadmap focuses on locking in co-production partners and financing rounds through late 2026 and 2027, setting up for a winter shoot in 2027/28. Chain Reaction is a timely, urgent story about youth standing up to systemic corruption, and we are fully committed to bringing its energy to international screens.
