Supply Chain Interrupted – A Regional Perspective

Video-consumption habits are changing drastically: the “whenever, wherever and on whatever terminal” dominates the viewer experience globally. Changes in user demand, changes in technical development and market disruption caused by global events such as environmental change and pandemics drastically have altered business models of content providers. Moreover, with the latest health crisis caused by COVID-19, an already disrupted film industry chain that operates on different release windows requires re-imagination and innovation. The new collaborations between festivals and VOD providers have emerged to offer filmmakers a virtual space on which to share their work and passion with audiences that otherwise might not have had the chance to see them. A smaller-scale film festivals have become the leading alternative method of financial exploitation for many European films. How has the global situation affected content providers in region of Former Yugoslavia? Does a response to global pandemics require more collaborative practices among key-players in the region?
